Mutual Fund
A pooled investment vehicle regulated by SEBI where many investors contribute money, managed professionally across stocks, bonds, or other securities.
SIP (Systematic Investment Plan)
Investing a fixed amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals — usually monthly — to benefit from rupee-cost averaging over time.
NAV (Net Asset Value)
The per-unit price of a mutual fund, calculated daily based on the total value of the fund’s holdings minus liabilities.
ELSS (Equity Linked Savings Scheme)
A category of mutual fund that qualifies for tax deduction under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act, with a three-year lock-in period.
Expense Ratio
The annual fee charged by a mutual fund as a percentage of your investment, covering fund management and operating costs.
LTCG (Long Term Capital Gains)
Profits from selling equity mutual fund units held for more than one year, taxed at a preferential rate under Indian tax law.
